Ride & Connect
Ride & Connect is a new community cycling initiative designed to help people learn to bike, build confidence, and ride together in a supportive, beginner-friendly environment.
Created with a focus on Black, racialized, newcomer, and other equity deserving community members, Ride & Connect helps reduce barriers to cycling by providing access to bicycles, experienced instructors, practical skills training, and a welcoming space to learn at your own pace.
Participants build foundational cycling skills through guided practice, group rides, safety education, and workshops covering topics such as bike maintenance, route planning, and independent riding. Just as importantly, the program creates opportunities to connect with others, explore local trails and communities, and build the confidence to continue cycling beyond the program.
Our first Halifax pilot brought together a small cohort for eight weeks of learning, movement, community, and plenty of laughter. More than 40 people applied for just 12 available spaces, reinforcing the need for more accessible and inclusive pathways into cycling.
Whether you have never ridden a bicycle before, are returning after years away, or simply want to feel more confident on two wheels, Ride & Connect is a place to start.
GET INVOLVED
The bikes may be parked for the winter, but Ride & Connect is just getting started.
Following the success of our first pilot, we are looking ahead to future Ride & Connect programming in 2027. Whether you want to join the next cohort or help us make cycling more accessible to more community members, there is a way to get involved.
