Strength & Serenity: A Wellness Retreat for Mind, Body, and Soul

An immersive community experience centered on holistic well-being.

Strength & Serenity was Mauya’s first one-day wellness retreat, designed as an immersive community experience centered on holistic well-being. Created intentionally for underrepresented communities, the retreat provided a dedicated space for restoration, learning, and meaningful connection.

The one-day event brought together participants for a curated series of workshops and activities focused on physical health, mental clarity, financial empowerment, and creative expression. The program included yoga, mindfulness practices, financial literacy sessions, and facilitated creative workshops, all structured to support a balanced and sustainable approach to self-care.

Strength & Serenity was grounded in the understanding that wellness is multidimensional. The retreat addressed not only individual well-being but also the structural factors that impact long-term stability and safety. By integrating financial literacy into a wellness framework, the program recognized economic empowerment as a critical component of resilience and a key factor in reducing vulnerabilities associated with gender-based violence.

The retreat was intentionally designed to foster strong community connection. Participants gathered in a safe, inclusive environment where they could share experiences, build trust, and form supportive relationships that extended beyond the event itself. The structure encouraged both reflection and dialogue, strengthening peer networks and reinforcing collective care.

From an impact perspective, participants described the retreat as restorative, empowering, and affirming. Many reported increased confidence in prioritizing their well-being, greater clarity around financial goal-setting, and a renewed sense of connection to community.

Through Strength & Serenity, Mauya proudly designed culturally responsive, prevention-focused programming that integrates wellness, empowerment, and community-building into a cohesive and impactful experience.
